Horse power ratings on motorcycles?

I am researching various manufacturers' web sites to narrow my choices for my first Motorcycle. I can easily find the "spec" pages on all the models, but none seem to show HP or torque ratings? What is a reliable source of that info? (Internet site preferred)

If you are looking for a first bike get something you like that is reasonably priced, but not too fast. If you think that one bike have 1-2 hp over another will make it better you are sorely mistaken. Power "characteristics" of the engine, comfort, handling and reliability matter more than abs. peak hp. You will find a very small HP margin between bikes in a given size and segment.

Any bike you buy is gonna be fast. I'm not sure I would use HP as a deciding factor. I would consider engine characteristics and handling over BHP.

hp rating is listed on the certificate of origin at your dealer.

    Ask him.

www.bikez.com is pretty good, but doesn't always have the specs.

www.sportrider.com is good for specs, but doesn't have all bikes.

    There are more, of course.
