It is called Jack and Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp. I think it's a great song!!

I agree with the previous respondents and yes, they are correct where they corrected your lyrics. This is one of my favorite Mellencamp songs. I quote a line from this song regularly to my kids because its essentially true: "Hold onto sixteen as long as you can; changes come around real soon, make us women and men."
