After i pay a bill, utility or credit card, do i need to save the stub for any reason? If so, for how long?

I would recommend saving at least a year because sometimes companies may make errors in their receipt of payments and you really should save credit card bills because of any chance you need those as prooof of purchase or non-purchase. I usually save all my bills from each month in one folder, after I pay the bills I clip all the bills and receipts from that month together and keep in a folder with the other months that have passed that way if I need anything form one month they are all together. Also helps if you do deductions for taxes.

I keep a copy along with my receipt (if I pay online) or write my check number on the stub. That way if there is a discrepency from the utility company the next month, I have proof of payment and how much. I only keep these for 6 months or so.

    Good luck!

yes i believe so, base to my experience i do file those receipts because there are times that you forgot wether it is settled or not, and for some reason if you want to loan they ask for your latest bill. recently i need a cash money and all i can do is to used my credit line. but all i can avail is an easy to convert money, so one of the requirements are official receipt that i paid in cash then they convert it into terms. keep it for a year,

    it really helps.

I think it is a good idea. If you save them, you will probably never need them but if you throw them away, there is sure to be a problem of some sort and you will wish that you had kept them. I have seen more than once that I have needed them. Good Luck

It's always wise to save receipts in case something ever needs to be disputed.
