Alternator Question?

Alright, I know enough about cars to get going. But I have recently replaced my alternator. At first I though it was my undercar neons, but they are only 5amp i wouldn't see how that would cause an alternator to go bad.

Here is the history of my car.

I had to replace the motor due to previous owner letting it sit for 2 years.

When the motor went bad, we thought it was just a fuel problem. I jumped the car

MANY MANY MANY times. We ended up literally boiling a diehard battery. The day before that happened my lights actually cut out and then turned back on when I was driving at night several times.

So we replaced with a cheap 1 year battery. Which within 1 year went bad.

Then I replaced it with a DieHard equivalent a few months ago.

Then I put these neons on and it went bad.

I wonder. Because of my battery history. DO you think this is why my alternator went bad?

mind you. this is over a 2.5 year period

yeah anything like that that i add to my car goes into a fuse. so hopefully if there is a problem the fuse will blow before anything goes wrong .. right?

alright so to do an amp voltage test.

Should i turn my neons on as well, just to see if that's kickin her over?

The car itself is at 123,500 miles & the motor is at probably 70,000

um. excuse me. but they aren't goofy considering i've one first place now 65 times because of my cars appeal at night.

secondly i installed them, and the run into a fuse and grounded properly to the car.

so dr. evil don't be an idiot.

    Yes constant jump starting is very hard on alternators but you also should have an amp and voltage draw test done.

    Get rid of the goofy neons. Whoever installed them did a halfassed job and it is affecting your car's recharging circuit.

    You are the one being the idiot. These are your words:

    You answered your own question. Why am I wasting my intelligence on you? I don't know. You apparently know nothing about electronics even though you mounted your own lights. Whoopie.

    You don't just add on items that drain high current without making proper electrical system adjustments. Your car's electrical system has been engineered by very smart electrical engineers to work properly WITHOUT goofy neon all over the car.

    By adding several amps of drainage on your system, you will continue to replace alternators and batteries, dumbass!

    Yes a bad battery will damage an alternator. I doubt if the neons would do it.

    If you are going to run more stuff, Amps,lights,ect.. Ask for a higher output alternator, and deep cycle battery.

    I think it was just time for the alternator to go bad. I just replaced one myself, no need to worry about why it quit they just do. As long as everything is working just ride.

    How old is the car?

    I had an alternator (I had bought the vehicle brand new) go out before 50,000 miles, and again before 75,000 miles.

    If your neons are fused then there shouldn't be a problem.
