tiger will break this easily. there should be no doubt but there are always some. tiger is the best thing to happen to golf, and i think i am fully comfortable saying that he is now and will be for many years the best in the game and he is more than likely the best there ever has been. you can't blame him for technology and you can't blame him for not being in the game when he was not alive like the other guys were. ive seen videos of him playing when he was 5 or 6 and he was saying he wants to play and beat everyone and looks like hes the man most feared. i like other golfers indeed but he is the man . 2010 is my guess as to whn he breaks the record.

By the time Nicklaus was at Tiger's stage in his career he had cut back playing- he was into golf course design at a very young age- Murifield in Ohio was being built at this point in Nicklaus's life that Tiger is at. Tiger will get to about 20 or 21 majors- he only needs about one a year until he turns 40 and he gets some favorable courses to win majors on- he can win at Augusta any year, the 2008 US is at Torrey Pines where he's won five Buick Invitationals, the 2009 US is at Bethpage in New York where he dominated the 2002 Open. The 2010, and probably 2015, British will be at St. Andrews and he owns St. Andrews.

I genuinely don't think he will. Far too many golfers have started to dominate the game, and then fallen from their pedistal, and never been in the top ranks again. Tiger did it in his 2003/2004 major drought, and I can see him doing it again. When Nicklaus had his supposed "major drought" he still wound up finishing 2nd or 3rd in almost half the tournaments.

Even if Tiger does do it, I still think calling him "the greatest of all time" is a bit premature. Nicklaus played in an age with people like Palmer, Casper, Player and Watson. I dont think there are any current PGA players in this day and age besides Tiger that could be referred to as "legends".

I say Tiger will beat that record in the next 3-5 years, he's an amazing player but his streak cant last forever-the competition is getting better everyday and he's getting a little to confident nowadays. Plus, I'll be on tour soon and I'll beat him here and there. And when he does win the record breaking major, I think it wil be the Master's!

Without a doubt, and the major he wins to beat his record is the Masters.

he will beat it when he wins his 19th major. i reckon it might be either the masters, uspga, us open, or even the british open....

I think he'll break it. 2010 U.S. Open. I think he would rather win it at the Masters, tho.
