So, what's worse keeping a old vw on the road for 40 years or keep on getting a new car every five years so you can stay on the cutting edge of clean air technology. Takes a hell of a lot more pollution to keep on building new ones rather than just keep that old vw on the road. As far as the black smoke(bad rings?), you can have poor maintence on an old car just as well as a new one.

Hypocracy is everywhere.

On a related note, car choice is one of the best predictors of party affiliation. Look at the bumper sticker this political season and look at the kind of car. Often times, the bigger the car, the "redder (Republican)" the driver.

So true. I see them from time to time. They should be riding bikes instead of wasting fossil fuel and destroying the environment like they said. Give me my SUV any day! LOL!
