does anyone love their therapist (not is a sexual way)?

I'm obsessed w/my therapist. not in a stockerish psychotic way though. He's been my therapist for over 10 yrs and he is just such an amazing person. He has really affected my life and has been my mentor. I love him. Not in a sexual way but in a more fatherly way. Has anyone ever felt this way about their therapist? Is this abnormal?

for me it is out of respect. SHE has been my salvation and has help me grow and respect my past and learn from it to move on. She has been a real mentor, and I will never forget her.

In the psych business we call this "enmeshment." It is not uncommon for a client to fall in love with their therapist bu it is under no circumstances healthy. If he knew of your feelings, and he was a competent thereapist, he would transmfer you off to another colleague. You most likely will get angry at me telling you this, but it is true. Ask any therapist. Your obsession with him will hinder your treatment: you will not concentrate on getting better because you're too enmeshed. Also, you will not want the sessions to end.

You might very well now be in worse shape than when you began seeing him. Because the day will come when your sessions will end, probably by his decision. Then let's see how balanced you are.
