Prison Break question: In Season 1, why did Scofield need the credit card while in prison...?

Well for one it was not a credit card. it appeared to a credit card but it has like this piece of plastic on it to cover its real identity of a door key. to get into the room of where the inmates belongings was when they were sent to jail. he needed to get his watch this giant envelope that had his stuff in it. if u need anymore questions just ask squirrelnemo.

so the he cud use the strip on the back to get through the doors! he would swipe the card to open the door!
