Windows XP is listing devices that are not installed?

Okay, so my computer has decided that it has a floppy drive installed, not only does it not have one, it never had one. The things Windows does is kind of funny... it's not really a problem, just an annoyance and no, at the moment there are no external storage devices attached. I'm thinking if I restart, that might fix it. I just don't feel like restarting right now but I'll let everyone know when I do.

Update:

Device Manager does indeed list a Floppy Drive but I assure you there is no nor was there ever a Floppy drive installed... here are two screenshots for those interested:

I think it's kind of funny... annoying... but funny

Update 2:

Sure enough, it was the BIOS... file this under "why didn't I think of that..." oh well, thanks (just feel kinda stupid right now...).

Check your BIOS settings the next time you restart. I bet the BIOS is telling windows you have an A: drive!

BIOS usually "defaults" to include an "A:" drive (floppy). Reset the BIOS to remove the A: drive (Usually on the first screen) then "save changes".

    That should solve the problem.

Weird things do happen at times.. If rebooting doesnt work then you might try this..

Try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:

    start

    programs

    accessories

    systems tools

    system restore

This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.
