Actually, a pivot join is one in which a bone rotates around another; a joint permitting only rotating movement. It doesn't necessarily have to b a ring-like bone rotating around an axis. The radius rotates around the ulna in the radial groove.
The radioulnar joints are pivot joints between the respective portions of the radius and ulnar. Movements of pronation (palm back) and supination (palm forward) take place at these joints. The radius and ulnar are connected by a fibrous membrane that forms and non moveable joint between these 2 bones called a syndesmosis.
