The risks are generally associated with women who are 35 or older, such as Down's Syndrome. However, many women are now having babies at 35, 40 and 45. It is not even close to being too late. I had a baby 10 months ago at 39 and she is beautiful. Good luck!

I would say the risk starts at 35. That's what most books and doctors will tell you. I'll be 30 in 4 months and I am pregnant with my first baby, so far so good. I feel great! Remeber the older you are the better and the less mistakes you will make as a parent. Go for it!

i'm 39 and having my first baby. I wasn't married till i became 38, and that i comprehend you suggested this does not count number if you happen to were married after 35, yet i will placed my 2 cents in. What if those human beings were married at 30, had minimum salary jobs, going to college, and attempting to larger perfect themselves? does not or not that is egocentric bringing a toddler into the international that you've problem helping? I disagree that it really is egocentric to have a toddler after 35. i in my opinion don't experience a lot different (age-sensible) than I did at 30! What makes something egocentric is in case you stumble on out that you're having a toddler with some type of "challenge" and confirm now to not have the toddler. i in my opinion chosen now to not have any of the attempting out achieved because it doesn't count number to me if something is incorrect (i.e. downs syndrome). Plus keep in mind, some human beings attempt to have a toddler for years on end without luck...why shouldn't they save attempting till they could. i imagine that you're being somewhat harsh!

I am 31 and 23 weeks pregnant for the first time. The older you get the higher the risks are but plenty of people have children well into their 30's.

    Good luck

No its after you turn 35 that there's an increased risk of complications and down syndrome. I had my 2 boys at 30 and 32 and they are fine. Good luck.

I was 34 when I had my first child. I didn't have any more or any less tests than the 25 year old. I didn't have any problems, not even morning sickness. Of course, the older you are there are higher risks with your own health which can pass on with the childs risks. I do know there are more tests if you are over 35.

Hope this puts your mind at ease.

At 30, it's healthy. Once you're 35, health risks with the baby become an issue. For example, down syndromes.

I just had my daughter in August and I turned 31 in October. I think that after 35 it is getting a bit more risky...but there have been women way older having perfectly healthy children.

It is slightly more riskier to have a child just because research has proven that things like down syndrome are more likely to occur. But don't let that scare you. I think any mom is at risk regardless of her age. I believe most of it depends on your family genetics and the way you take care of yourself during and before the pregnancy.

Source(s): I know a 20 year old who had a baby with down syndrome and a 45 who had a healthy (unexpected) baby.

not at 30 , but at 35 the risk of birth defects increases. you're still young , stop worrying and enjoy!

    I had my first @ 26

    second @ 30

    third @ 37

and now am possibly pg @ 38 with #4!
