How do I get my baby to eat different foods?

I have a 14 1/2 month old boy and he is very picky,he smells his food and if he doesn't like the feel of it he won't eat it.He only eats yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit, cereal, spaghetti, mac and cheese.I would like him to try other foods, but he so picky and he will spit it out.And he is still getting up in the night for bottles,HELP!

Don't pigeon hole him which means keep trying the foods you think he doesn't like. Sometimes it takes weeks of trying different foods before they accept them. I've seen mothers say to friends right in front of their young toddler like he can't hear her. " the baby doesn't like broccoli" it's amazing that some parents, after trying to feed something new to their toddler only one time will make them believe they don't like it. If you tell your child he's stupid enough times, he'll start to believe it. Keep trying and he'll eventually develop a taste for a wide variety of foods. Remember healthy wholes foods. Stay away from the processed artificially flavored fake foods. By the way, he's waking up a asking for a bottle because you're giving him one. If you feel he's eating enough during the day, just comfort him for a minute, pat his back and don't pick him up and don't give him that bottle. Again this may take a few nights of dealing with a little crying, but the payoff is that your child will sleep through the night and so will you. After 4 kids, we learned our lessons the hard way.

I feel for you...Have you tried making his plate of food fun for him? For example, arrange the food on the plate in happy faces, or make a design. My son is 2 1/2, he isn't picky he just hasn't got the time to eat. So we make it fun for him like I mentioned. The one that seems to be working the best for us right now is we pretend that he is a kitty or a puppy. We make a game out of it. This may not work for your child and then again it may. I hope you figure something out that works for both your son and you.

    Good Luck :)

It can take up to 10 tries for a child to like a new food. Just keep trying. Good Luck.

try cutting down on bottles...dont get discouraged ......if your baby is drinking lots of bottles may not truely be getting that hungry.....keep introducing new foods....some people say that u have to keep trying for like 14 days......keep it to one food at a time so if an allergy develops you will know what food he may have an allergy too.....good luck

Just keep putting it on his plate, he will eventually try it, he may not like it at 1st, but give it a while. Also, put it next to his fav. foods this will make it look more apealing to him.
