failed detecting SATA on A8V-MX with RHEL 4ES?
I am installing RHEL 4ES on SATA on A8V-MX but it says the Hard Disk Not present. can any one help me out how to resolve it.
I have even modified the settings of the SOUTHBRIDGE but still it did not recognize the Harddisk.
please help

if you are installing windows or any microsoft operating system, then do the following:
1. Visit the manufacturer website of your harddrive.
2. Download the driver for windows, and copy it on a floppy disk.
3. when you start installing windows, press f6 when setup starts, insert the floppy disk, then continue setup
I had this problem many times in sata harddrives, and this was the solution!>

How many SATA controllers on the motherboard? Using RAID? Try disabling RAID or switching controllers. What kernel does RHEL 4 boot with? Isn't it an early 2.6? There was a fairly big update to libsata around 2.6.9 or 2.6.13.
