Why do people give up their civil liberties so willing?

They're Democrats.

Oh my I crack myself up. No but seriously there's these smoking ban propositions in my state up for vote. One is backed by The American Lung Association and wants to ban all smoking in all restaurants. The other is backed by big tobacco (supposedly) and actually seems to keep the same rules in place. I think it bans smoking in all family style restaurants but keeps smoking in bars and restaurant bars. I'm voting for the one backed by big tobacco, not because I like smoking, not because I like big tobacco but because I believe an establishment should have a right to choose. If you're going to a bar...chances are you clearly don't care THAT much about your health. It's easy to avoid the smokers...just leave that much for them for God's sake.
