What is your highest level of competition...?
Ok I'm gonna weed out the BS from the truth here. All martial artists what is the highest level competitions you've been in and did you medal.
Oh and if you say Olympics, I want the link to the web page that proves it. And make sure your art or sport is even in the olympics or a particular level of competition before you embarrass yourself.
I have 13+ years of Judo training 5 years of Grecco/Freestyle wrestling. I have competed in the AMCAN games 3 times 1 gold and 2 bronze. The Junior Olympics twice 2 bronze. The Junior Nationals gold and the Ontario Provintials twice bronze and silver. All were from age 10 - 16. I am getting back into competition in the new year and will be competing at the Senior level. I don't have the olympics in my site but maybe the Canadian Nationals and then the AMCAN or PANAM games. I figure within a year I'll be ready.
Ok so now that we kow who doesn't or hasn't competed in any tournaments.
Your answers are like saying that Mario Andretti shouldn't have driven a race car for a trophie because he loved to drive.
You missed the oint of the question I think. I never said anything about braging. And if you read you will see the awards competitions were all before I was 16. I am 28 now and no longer compete. Will I ever again who maybe but that's up to me.
If you don't like competing or have asperations to go to a major competition such as the nationals worlds or even the olympics thats up to you. But then as an artist you have no right to answer questions pretaining to martial arts competition. I am not a guy who gos out and fights people on the street nor do I wish to.
I respect my art and most others very much and if you can't handle one person wanting to know if anyone else on this open forum is actually as accomplished as many of you claim to be in your other answers.
Maybe you are the ones with the ego problems. I am perfectly secure in myself and my training. Maybe you aren't.
Oh and I am a Judoka, Judo, not Karate or TKD or Kung FU. Look up the history of Judo and you will see it is very much influenced by competition and the creater Jigoro Kano did infact put his students against Jujitsu students to prove his art was better. Until you know what Judo is don't talk about points competitions and kata etc...
One last thing. Spider and others. Just keep puting 13 years training etc. at the bottom of all your answers. Hipocrit

The highest level of competition that I've participated in were National's. I tried it 3 times, I won 1st (gold) for team kata (2nd time I entered) and 2nd (silver) for individual kata (3rd time I entered). I didn't win anything the first time I tried, and my heart was in sparring competitively (in all competitions I've entered).

USMAA Nationals Gold (1st Time All American, Kata), AJMAU Nationals (2 Time Open Hand Kata Champ, Weapon Kata Champ), US Open (3rd Place Open Kata, 3rd Place Open Weapons) Numerious Local and Ohio Tournaments during the last 6 Years places ranging from Gold to Bronze. And remember, the only 2 martial arts in the olympics at this point are Judo and T.K.D.

With all due respect, you need to take a good hard look at yourself. Do you study martial arts so that you can compete for shiny objects? Is this what the arts mean to you? If so you have cheapened the arts as they were never designed for competition.
Do you consider me and my manner of training BS because I don't have a shiny piece of plastic? Do you think the founder of your martial art would be proud of your ego?
Also, the fact that you have a picture of yourself with your hands so proudly displayed on your rank is very odd to me. I would be ashamed if the people in my school saw me in my rank on the internet telling people they are full of crap because they don't compete for plastic objects.
Do you realize that competition is crap? I have never been to a tournament that wasn't heavily influenced by politics. Point sparring is crap. Wrestling one person in an enclosed area is entertaining but it is hardly like a real street situation.
Please take time to do some research and see what is really important to you about the arts? Is it rank, is it shiny objects, or is it the thought that you are superior?
Whatever it is you are coming across as very pompous person.
The Olympics and competition are for sports, true martial arts are not a sport.

some people enjoy what they do and really don't have to brag about it. Black Belts should be humble as well and not brag. So how can you weed out the BB as you say by trying to get them to brag like you about competitions and really how do we knwo you are telling the truth. you ask people to provide links to show the truth but you show no one else anything to prove all your claims. Now I don't want proof of your claims or need them so don't be one of them guys who wines about it and sends me a email later whining and complaining because I answered you question not they way you wanted it to be answered. If you do that then you will just let everyone know that you have no true Martial Spirit and you are not very Humble. Awise man is always Humble. That means that don't brag about what they know or do. The ones who do brag may not be all they claim to be.

It was a semi pro fight (basically amateur but without protective shins pads and headgear and no pay) on July 1st, 2006 at "All Sport Center" in Las Vegas. About 500 people attendant. My fight was a main event. I lose the fight in late 3rd round by referee stop. My first real loss in Muay Thai.
before that I have one bad doctor stoppage in first round due to bruise covering most of my rib from a kick. Everyone say I would have win it if the doctor didn't stop me because the guy was getting tired fast early in first round and I was still fresh.
beside that I've trained with three amateur Muay Thai champion (one is a pro now) and few professional fighter. I was a main sparring partner for one female K-1 fighter.
