Five signers of the Declaration of Independence were captured by the British, and were tortured as traitors before they died.

Nine died from wounds they received, fighting in the Revolutionary War

Carter Braxton, a wealthy planter and trader from Virginia, lost his ships in the War and had to sell everything, to pay his debts. He died in rags.

Thomas McKeam lost everything.

Thomas Nelson, Jr. died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.

John Hart's fields and gristmill were destroyed.

Philip Livingston lost several properties to the British occupation of New York and sold off others to support the war effort, and he did not recover them.

Of course, the patriots, in the American Revolution, were not limited to those who signed the Declaration of Independence or who rose to prominence, later. Wherever the British went, there was hardship and destruction.

Well the Patriots have alot of salary cap room...i mean they got rid of alot of money in Deion Branch, didnt resign David Givens nor Willie McGinest...I mean they have alot of money to spend so they choose too...this is why Tom Brady was so upset about losing Deion Branch b/c he felt they had the money to spend on him and thats the exact reason he took the paycut, is so he could keep pieces of the puzzle that shouldnt have been replaced. But they are 6-1 now so it obviously didnt hurt to bad...
