    I would recommend this supplement> http://springtimeinc.com/product/94/2

It has really helped several dogs that I know..Read the 'letters' and see what you think..A few years ago, when my friend needed something to help his dog, I contacted the company to ask about the truthfulness of the letters..and they actually gave me phone numbers to call and verify.. Yes, they were legitimate..

  • Common problem I think. I have a Rottie and was concerned with this issue because even as a puppy she seemed to favor one side when she walked and had difficulty sitting down. She acts as if she is an old arthritic dog. I researched a little on the internet and found that this can be surgically corrected. So the first thing I did was to take out a health insurance policy on my dog. (my dog has health insurance and I don't!) There was a six month waiting period for pre-existing conditions. I waited the six months then took her to the vet. He did not seem to be too concerned and did not think she needed surgery.

Sorry if this was not much help, but just wanted to wish you luck.

As someone that has gone through 3 hip replacements in my left hip (and I'm only 53 ) I wouldn't put your dog through the misery of it. It also is very costly with no guarantee of success. I would give your dog Ibuprofen and pain pills. That should help alot but be prepared to put him out of pain in a year or so. Good luck.

Look on the net for Gold Bead Implants. It is a permanent form of acupuncture. There are a lot of articles on the net about this. I have one a my dogs done a few years ago for hips and a back problem. She had been on Deramaxx for pain and after the implants she never needed another pain pill.

Try giving him Glucosamine/condroitin pills (1500 mg. from Walmart) a day and see if it helps him. He may just have arthritis. He is the right age for problems like that to show up. Also, 130 lbs is way to much weight for him to carry. Put him on a diet (with help from the vet for the proper food to give him)

    Good luck.

Take him to the vet and have him checked out. Unfortunately with mixed breeds, you're even more likely to have health problems because they haven't been very carefully bred.

There are lots of different ways to handle it... careful exercise and weight management, anti-inflammatory and arthritic medications, and surgery in very extreme cases.

Lots of dogs with hip dysplasia manage to still live long, full lives, so no worries just yet!

Hi the only cure for HD is a very costly op on each hip that can runyou up a vast vets bill...There is no esy cure in meds as this is a hip(ball & socket) problem...Consult a professional vet...Regards Jake
