How can I make my windshield wiper stop squeaking?

Even when there is plenty of rain on the windshield, it squeaks loudly! It is driving me crazy!

Update:

I forgot to mention that it didn't start until I put on some new high quality blades.

There are a couple of possibilities for your squeak. One is that the new wipers are stiff, usually caused by being on the shelf way too long. The other is that they need to be lubricated, I use a small amount of liquid soap to do the job. Also their could be a residue on your windshield from the old worn wipers. Clean this off with hot soapy water and a terry cloth. If all these fail, return the wipers. They are suffering from rigor mortis!

It is probably just dirty. I use a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol to clean mine - that usually stops the sqeak. If that doesn't work you may need to replace the blades.

maybe you got the wrong size blades??

it is possible that the blades were even packaged wrong
