I personally prefer Ibanez, but B.C. Rich has been around for quite a while. They are really popular among hard rockers. They have to be doing something right. Some really big names play them. Check out their site:

IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW EXPERIENCED THE PERSON IS BUYING THE GUITAR. FOR A FIRST STARTER YEAH IT WOULD BE A GOOD GUITAR . ALSO WHAT TYPE OF SOUND ARE YOU TRYING TO GO FOR AS IN ROCK HEAVY METAL COUNTRY BLUES ECT.

good quality axes....good wiring, construction/materials...alot of pros use them...good sound...I'm just not big on the dark-side body designs so I never bought one...give me an esp, schecter, jackson, charvell, dean, fender, ibanez, gibson...heck I'd even go w/ an epiphone maybe heh...good luck...
