94 jetta will not start. I have a fully charged battery and all the idiot lights on the cluster come on?

When I turn the key, there is a slight clicking under the dash. The starter is not engaging. Any Suggestions?

I would make sure the battery is not to weak to power the starter. The battery should be slightly under 12.5 volts. If it is not the battery, check your fuses. If it not of the fuses are bad, check your relays. You can check your relays by putting your finger on it while you turn on or try to start the vehicle, the relay should click. Last I would check your wires and where they connect. Get you a repair manual at a local auto parts store that has schematics and wire diagrams. Hope you figure it out. Good luck.

Volkswagens (especially jettas), have always had major electrical problems. I don't know why, they just do. And when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. I'm afraid you're gonna end up paying a pretty penny. I love Jettas, I had one in 98. But now I stick with Hondas or Toyotas.

the clicking you are hearing inside the car is probably a relay, i would think the starter is most likely bad, or the connections to the starter
