Is it common for pet rabbits to lick people incessantly?

There was a pet rabbit where I lived recently. Whenever I'd go to its cage to visit it, it would lick my forearm for up to five or ten minutes at a time. Is it because of the salt content in the sweat on my arm that attracts it?

Update:

By the way, it had one or two salt lick things in its cage, and it would still lick my forearm. Maybe it was just showing affection?

It could be the salt or it could be affection... most rabbits won't lick people... but i have one rabbit that licks me and i KNOW that he does not have a salt deficiency... so it could be either one depending on the rabbit.... some just like you...

Yes Brian it is because of the salt, we have a guinea pig named cuddles and he licks constantly, rabbits and guinea pigs eat the same food which does not have the salt content that they need and crave.

Seems to me they are lacking salt. Try buying a salt block from a local pet shop.

No do not lick your puppy. in case you want to imitate that is affection use a warmth damp wash cloth. Your pets already comprehend that you want them. Animals are more effective perfect at sensing actual affection than we are as people.
