Why is it many Black people...struggle with the word 'ask'?

I don't know why they say axe instead of ask. I would think it's the same reason that some of them speak Ebonics rather than English. Their parents never learned how to speak correctly and they just follow suit. The inner city schools for some reason don't try to get them to speak correctly. It is a shame because it makes them appear stupid and uneducated and it affects their ability to get a good job as adults. Not all blacks speak like that though. Those raised outside of the ghettos and poorer neighborhoods speak the same English that the rest of us do.

Black people do not struggle with a word in the dictionary as long as you are educated you can pronounced a word. Some black people might not say 'ask' properly because they are african and they accent says some stuff different

so what if theyr black and struggle with ask or white and struggle with ask, it all has to do with their education level and possibly if they have a speech impairment or not... in my school some black kids try to sound ghetto by messing up words on purpose... lik ignorant, thats a popular one.. its not iggnent but you hear that alot

They don't struggle with it, it is part of their own dialect of english. It is a perfectly regular dialect that has its own set of rules just as standard english does. This is one reason some African-American children have trouble in school, they speak a different dialect then what is taught in schools. If you accept it as a separate dialect and view it as you would a normal language it no longer is incorrect and irregular but perfectly regular and logical.

I didn't realize that black people were struggling with the word ask. Is that something you were told or just wondered on your own?

It is a problem that derives from the day racist people, such as yourself, shot any of them who said it correctly. However it is a misconception that all black people mispronounce ask, as it is a cultural difference that has formed through the dialect
