My old Tom-Tom cat died this morning and I am hurting so much?

Update:

Thanks to people who are responding. He was about 10 years old, adopted from the street, and had been very sick for just a few days, the vet said probably pneumonia. He lost a lot of weight in a very short time, and his body temp was very low when we got him to the vet. Vet tried to prop him up with antibiotics, IV fluids, tube feeding, etc., but thinks that his heart just gave out today because he was so weak. He was such a total mama's boy, wanted to be on my lap or on my feet or on my pillow all the time. He was a love.

I really understand how you feel. I came home from work today and found my female boston terrier dead on my porch. I have no idea what could have happened to her, she was running around and playing yesterday like nothing was wrong. I have a boy boston terrier that is her brother that already went into a depression for over a week when my dog before her got out of the fence and got ran over. So that's why i got her. They were really close. So now i'm scared he will go back into depression again, but i don't want to replace her because i couldn't handle nothing else happening to another dog. So if you'll keep us in your prayers we'll keep you in ours. And remeber everytheing happens for a reason. The man upstairs never makes mistakes so maybe your tom cat is not going to have to suffer now. So sorry for you

My sympathy for your loss. I lost 11 cats before due to brutal activities by cowards and some due to disease. Rest assured your cat is now in a better place and condition free of pain and disease or other horrors that may come upon them when they were still alive.

Mother nature has sent us these animals to take care of and I am sure you have done your part with your cat. You know in your heart that your animal thanks you for your care and affection and that your cat will remember you as much as you remember it.

There may be a time when you are called to help another animal in the future and I know you will do so again, you should also be proud that you have saved and protected a living being until the day has come for it to leave to a better place.

    Again, sorry for your loss.

    I Only Wanted You

    (Author Unknown)

    They say memories are golden

    well maybe that is true.

    I never wanted memories,

    I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,

    a million times I cried.

If love alone could have saved you

    you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,

In death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place

    no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway

    and heartache make a lane,

I'd walk the path to heaven

    and bring you back again.

    Our family chain is broken,

    and nothing seems the same.

But as God calls us one by one,

    the chain will link again.

That's really too bad. I've had tons of cats die on me including the one that died while I was holding it. The pain will eventually go away. Just always keep the memories alive and with you. You'll eventually be able to get another cat. It won't be a replacement but it will create some great memories for you.

Hi there...first I would like to ffer my condolences to you. This is a difficult time and it's helpful to allow yourself to grieve as your cat was your friend/family. Some people find comfort talking about their kitty or looking at photos to help ease the pain.

Here's a poem that you may find also comforting:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so sorry about your cat. How old was he? I lost my big black cat 2 months ago due to heart failure, so I know how you must feel today. You will grieve for a while and it does hurt. It feels like you lose a family member or a good friend. But believe me, without forgetting him, you eventually will feel less pain.

I do not know why one in all them began the addiction however at any time when he begins, I could simply dispose of him, instantly and lightly with a "No" and no longer puppy him for once more for approximately 20-half-hour. It might be that he does it whilst he's over-encouraged. But it isn't whatever I'm conversant in and you do not ever desire him doing it to a visitor. :)

I'm so sorry for your loss:( It is never easy to lose a loved one. Keep thinking of the good memories and the good life that you gave him that he may not have had if you had not rescued him.

Melb's answer was great, and sooooo true!

Its natural that a loss of a good companion can be hurting...I experienced it before...But at least on the comforting side you know it has died of old age and peacefully...So don't get too upset over it

Ohhh. I am so sorry. I know how bad you must feel. Our little animals are so dear to us. I will say a little prayer for you both. And don't worry, the animals go to heaven too so you will be together again.
