If you want hair to grow faster or more healthy, you have to take supplements that work on your body chemistry to support hair's growth and strength at its genesis.....once it has grown out, it is just dead keratin

Try GNC, they make a supplement called " Ultra Nourishair" in formulas for men and women..they are HUGE pills and you have to take 2 daily. There is also a "Hair skin and nails" formula from Andrew Lessman that you can google, that has great ingredients and is easier to swallow, made by ProCaps labs. You can also take large doses of Biotin, sometimes called Vitamin H, take no less than 2500 micrograms daily to support healthy hair growth. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to see results.

have taken the GNC pills for 4 months and supplemented them with extra Biotin because they only have 1200 mcg of Biotin and you should try for a minimum of 2500 micrograms.

I am switching to Procaps labs capsules when I run out of the GNC because Procaps formula has more Biotin in a more pure form with more of the trace elements that support healthy hair growth.

I take about 5000 micrograms which equals 5 milligrams of Biotin daily and my hair is growing fast and thick and dark.

I know this is going to sound really weird cuz you're trying to grow your hair not cut it, but you need to get a trim (not a huge chunk cut off), just a trim every 2 months. This allows for no split ends which stops the hair growth process. Healthy hair will keep growing and growing so long as you maintain it. Just get a trim every 2 months and you'll notice a growth soon there after. You probably have split ends now, it's been a year since you're last haircut and that stops hair growth. Good luck.

Look at your diet, as it will affect the health and growth rate of your hair? A balanced diet will improve and maintain good growth. See diet and its effects for more information.

Your blood feeds the growth center of each hair and stimulation or massage of the scalp will encourage a good blood supply and therefore growth. Invest in a scalp massage brush and give your hair and scalp a through brush once a day.

Regularly trim your hair every 6 to 12 weeks depending on whether you are growing it or not. Split ends are your biggest enemy, once they start, your hair will get shorter by the day as they break off, making you feel that your hair never grows.

If the above have been tried or you don't feel they apply to your needs then a personal consultation with a trichologist may be the way to go for you.

There are certain uncontrollable factors like pregnancy conditions or certain illness or genetic factors that will result in hair loss. But, this does not mean that you cannot do something about your hair loss.

If you trim your hair every 6 weeks (just the ends) your hair will grow much faster and in better shape.
