No, it does not change Christianity at all.

In fact, it re-affirms the message of the Gospel.

Jesus died for the sins of all;

forgiveness is available to all who believe.

I commend him for stepping up to the plate and repenting of his sin. Of course, there are consequences for his actions and he obviously is reaping the harvest of the seed he has sown. Like you said before me, Jesus is the head of the church, and God wants us to look to Him, not man. Man advises us, councils us, and exhorts us, but when it's all said and done, as the church we are responsible to seek after God. As far as Ted Haggard goes, Praise God his sin was exposed. Now he can get some council and healing. He's a mere man. We all fall short and in Gods eyes ones sin is no greater than the next. When we repent he removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west. Lets pray that Ted Haggard is able to overcome his demons once in for all and that they don't fall back into darkness. Also, lets pray that those christians that struggle with this same issue will have a wake up call and will take authority over their issues lest they fall. God is a good God.

We all must remember also that Haggard was the leader of a Charismatic Pentecostal Independent church and the National Evangelical Association is a liberal group.

Independent Charismatic churches are pastored by people like Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, R W Schambach, Paul and Jan Crouch, Jimmy Swaggart, T D Jakes, Jerry Seville, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagan and the like. These groups are notorious for scandals, sexual as well as financial.

Although this is still a tragedy, we can not forget that most mainstream Christian denominations have long had serious doubts about the accountability of these churches.

I totally agree, At first I didn't want to believe it because he said it wasn't true. Then I believed that part of it was true and part was a lie. Now I don't know what to think. I was defending him when this first broke and prayed that the truth would come out.

I am sickend by this and think that people can not be trusted. God is the only one I can really trust. His word is the only thing I can read and trust.

Not only does this make the preacher look bad but gays too. Kissing and telling is a black spot on their character. He was probably the one who went further with Ted to entice him into this homosexuality act. Then offering him drugs as a promise that it would heighten the whole experience.

No. I 'm remembering back to 1987 when Jim Baker of the PTL club was found to have committed adultery and to have had homosexual rerlationships. It didn't change Christianity. There have always been people that have fallen from high places.

There are many different branches of Christianity, and I never cared for the New Life church but I respected their right to exist. The fall of one prominent minister should not reflect on what's going on in all the rest of Christianity.

Ted Haggard is a man. He is a man that chose the right path, strayed from it and if wise he'll get back on the right path again.

I believe that it is entirely possible for a person to believe whole heartedly in God and God's word yet fail to live up to it.

If most people were honest, they too would realize that we've all failed to abide by God's word in one area or another.

The man in most danger is the man who sinned with Ted and exploited him. This happened in the bible also, Noah's son found his father naked and drunk in the tent and chose to exploit Noah's nakeness in public to his 2 brothers, like the gay man on TV today. Noah's 2 sons chose to rebuke their brother and do right. They covered their eyes and their father with a blanket. God cursed the exploiter and blessed the other 2. Whoa to the man exploiting Ted, because GOD is the same yesterday today and forever, the curse of God is on him.

I agree that God remains true as well as his Word found in Holy Scripture. It doesn't change for all those who have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ and are trusting in him for salvation. Hopefully this Christian Evangelist will sincerely repent of his sins and he will be forgiven, but there will be those of his church who will not.

I agree 100% while its sad to see a brother fall (and that does effect the body of Christ as whole) when need to be there for our brother.

One great thing about the word of God is that it is seperate from us. It stands by itself. It itself if people would take time to read it tells coutless stories of men and women of God not living up to God's standard but it also shows that never-the-less God's plan continues we can not mess up God's plan for we are not perfect his plan is.

Of course you are correct. We have to remember that those closest to Jesus deserted Him too, when He was arrested in the garden. They all ran away. And Peter denied Him three times! We all know that Peter repented and was restored. Anyone can repent of sin and be restored by our merciful God. I pray for this man, Ted Haggard, that other believers will show mercy, that he will ask forgiveness, and that he will be forgiven and be able to serve God faithfully for the rest of his life, knowing that God puts our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west, and remembers them no more.
