How many people here are actually answering questions because they want to help people and how many are answering questions cuz they want more points?

To be honest, I think it's a bit of both. I'm sure most people, including myself, that use Yahoo! Answers genuinely want to try and help others (as well as learn new things). The point system acts as an incentive and makes the whole Y!A experience fun and a little competitive. I think points and "Best Answers" as well as a user friendly design, are key elements that greatly contribute to the success and popularity of Y!A.

i do enjoy helping people and ive also got some great answers to questions ive asked. the points are a bonus but not the reason im here. i also help out on an answer site that doesnt give points. you need points here to be able to ask questions but its really just an incentive to move up the leaderboard.
