In North America we are used to the Quaker style of "Rolled Oats", which is the oat kernel is processed, steamed and then rolled to look like a flake, were steel cut oats are almost shredded by steel rollers that would resemble little spikes and with this the oats look more like large corn grits or breadcrumbs, it also allows more of the bran and germ to be retained, plus it can take up to 45 minutes for it to cook as aposed to the rolled variety, which can be as quick as 1 minute for quick, 3-5 minutes for regualar or 5-10 minutes for the large flake style, all porvide a healthy dose of iron, niacin, and all the rport benefits of cold cereal but with the cholesterol lowering qualitys of whole grain oats

oats that have been cleaned, toasted, hulled and cleaned again and have been cut into 2 to 3 pieces and not rolled. They take considerably longer to cook than rolled oats and have a chewy texture, they also have a much better flavor

It's oatmeal that is processed differently and cooks up a little chunky and chewy, unlike regular oatmeal which can be slimy.

    I love it!
