Do you really think Bush wanted a war?

No sane person wants a war .

Unfortunately , as now , it sometimes becomes necessary to fight in order to survive .

There are some truly evil people out there , who would force their will and their religion down our throats .

Their stated goal is to rule the world as an Islamic State .

Yes, he was lanquishing at the time and was aware that the first gulf war gave his father a big political boost. also it is agreed that he and his stafff was already planning on getting Iraq and needed a pretext. He did not think it would backfire like this so probably regets it now.

He actually has had no real personal experience with real war so probably was a bit naive about what it is like to fight and die for a lost cause. ( The lost cause being trying to create democracy in a middle east country while your own country is falling apart and suffering from self-inflicted wounds to is own feedoms and prosperity)

Maybe he believed that old canard that wars are good for business and help the economy. It certainly has helped the economy of his corporate pals, that we know for sure. ( like Halliburton) Too bad 3,000 more Americans had to die and 20,000 get wounded so he could get richer and more powerful.

But "War is Hell" right?

No. No one goes out looking for a War ,but sometimes you have to do things that can make you hated by many. It takes guts to take all the heat you get. Some people have it and some live and die by polls.I 'm glad that Al Gore was not able to steal the election like he tried to do by wanting to throw out a majority of military absentee ballots.

As a reflection of history, I'd say Bush will be viewed as the extension of what works for the Republicans.

Go back to the 1950s and we see his party start their rise to power by hunting for communists. The party Bush works for is anti-welfare.

Our U.S. government is intentionally locked down all the time by design -- the balance of power idea. It takes "momentum" to move our government in any single direction. Republicans get their way by claiming we are in dire straits from the enemy abroad and from within.

The people around him wanted the war and Bush isnt the kind of politician to make up his own mind.

Look up the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), they wrote to Clinton urging him to invade Iraq way before Bush got to office and a lot of their members were in senior positions in his cabinet.

The war was going to happen the second the supreme court handed him the presidency. 9-11 was a gift to PNAC.

no I do not think anyone wants war-however,our great Nation was attacked on 9/11,and unlike the previous presidency,George Bush,with the blessing from 99% of people holding position in our government,did something about it.

I do believe that he felt a war was the only option at the time given the information he received. I do also believe the information was flawed and it would have better served the world if we had not invaded Iraq and gotten rid of him by other means...wink, wink.

He did believe that Iraq would cut off our access to oil! Why not fight for that!?!

The war didn't catch him by surprise. He told lies into convincing the government to approve his declaration of war. He went over the head of the UN to launch the war.

Of course he wanted a war. If he didn't, he wouldn't have tried so hard to be damned sure it would go through.

Yes he had a war plan before 9/11.

of course bush didn't WANT war. despite what conspiracy theory Libs think, NOBODY wants war. defending our country, and making where we live a safer place is not war-mongering. and if i hear the words "big oil" i'm gonna scream. how can anyone make this war about smething so simplistic? think, people! its not that difficult!!
