Know about hamsters?
We have a hamster that has been completely traumatized by another pet (ended up in a cat's mouth). We are usually very careful with him, but he managed to escape while one of the kids was turned around. I'm trying to help the poor lil' fellow but it looks like he might be going into shock. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Your best bet is...
-keep him warm (a heating pad set to Med -but MAKE SURE he can get off it so he doesn't cook)
-keep him hydrated (pedialyte - kool-aid anything he will drink)
-please consider taking him to the vet... he may have internal injuries.

Had the same thing happen, one escaped and ended up in the dog's mouth. After we wrenched him free, he was shocked a bit. We just put him back in the cage, in his nest area, just kept an eye on him. He ended up fine with no injuries, though I was concerned he was kinda contorted a bit. As stated, just make sure he has food & water and whatever makes him comfy. IMO it'd be best to just let him be instead of stressing him further by handling him, and just keep an eye on him & make sure he's comfortable. You could take him to the vet, but not to sound like a jerk, are you going to spend all that money (office visit, xrays, meds, etc)on a hamster-easily 100.00? I know that's mean, and I'll probably get a bunch of negs, but it's realistic sorry.

Could have suffered internal contusions. Only time will tell. A hamster's average life span is usually only about 2 years... My 2 hamsters also succumbed to my 3 cats.

I would take your hamster to the vet. It is showing signs that are not normal and if it has injuries or is dying it's better to have it treated instead of watching it dye slowly.
Good luck xx
