Has to be one or the other.

Maybe he was lying on purpose or trying to look stupid. There may be some beyond the scenes bargaining going on or some hidden agenda...I find it strange they didn't rig it in their favor knowing they know how and that it is pretty easy..

When someone tells anyone what is going to happen in the future, he's only expressing an opinion. A person of average intelligence knows this. If it does not turn out as predicted, it is not a lie, by any reasoning, just a bad guess.
All politicians must pep up the voters by predicting victory. Anyone of even very low intelligence understands this. So a direct answer to your question is - - - neither a lie or stupidity, just politics.

That the two events have comparable strategies in war. FDR locked up over a hundred thousand eastern human beings. Bush have been given perchance one thousand arabs in gitmo. the two tried to bail out the economic equipment, the two failed. the two suspended Habeas Corpus and yet basically one has been crucified for it. Lincoln did comparable strikes throughout the time of the Civil war.

Oh my, how old are you? If you know anything about politics and you haven't gotten that far yet you would realize it's just part of the campaign talk. Did you not hear the Democrats say they were going to win? Didn't it occur to you one had to win and one loose? If the Democrats would have lost then you would be saying they were lying or stupid. Both parties in elections always say they are going to win otherwise how would it look to the voters of that party if their leaders declared they weren't going to win. You need to study up in this more.

In answer I'm adding a quote which sums it up pretty well for me in answering your question.
He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions.
--Thomas Jefferson, August 19, 1785
My call is this makes him stupid .

No - not lying or stupid. Just wishful thinking. Of course Karl Rove does all of his thinking for him so I guess it was Karl Roves' wishful thinking

Stoopid, because he didn't know just how much he has POed most of the country. Of course then, he didn't know how many to get all over the country cheating & unplugging the voting machines, or mucking them up in heavily Democratic areas....

I don't know. When Democrats proclaimed themselves winners in the 04 presidential election were they lying or stupid? Both sides think they are going to win. Both sides believe they are going to win. Both sides will not concede until the votes are counted. Democrats amuse me, you cannot even win gracefully.

a little of both. the funny thing is that pretty much all polititions will make promises like that(ones they have no control over the outcome) and people will beLIEve them.
