As for putting her outside, I doubt she will jump, but you will have to keep the door open so she will have access at all times to the litter box. If you have a closet that you just store boxes in, put it in there and keep the door cracked so the cat can get in.

I feel for you cause I too have a cat and she likes to dig. I'm sorry to say that there isn't much you can do except keep sweeping. It seems to stay between their claws cause I find litter rocks all over my apartment. Maybe try turning the litter box the other way?
