1996 Ford Taurus shifts hard between 1st and 2nd gear.?

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus with 3.0 engine and auto transmission.

If I take off down the road at a slower than normal pace the transmission shifts normal. If I take off like everyone else and go at a normal pace then the transmission shifts pretty hard between 1st and 2nd gear, the rest of the gear shifts seem pretty normal , maybe just a little harder than normal but pretty normal overall . just had the fluid and filter changed, not flushed, changed. Anyone have an idea of what might cause this? Perhaps a speed sensor or some kind of valve or switch? I realize that I may have to have the tranny rebuilt, just thought someone may know of something that may help.

You could have bad mounts. Have a friend shift the car into drive from park and watch the motor. If your mounts are bad, the engine will rock, a lot. Thats my guess. Also, the tranny could be just going bad.

a hard shift is not always an indicator of a bad tranny. when you play the " stoplight grand prix" the car might just be responding to its " program" , when an automatic gives a smooth shift it actually slips the gear it's coming out of and the one it's going into, when an automatic is re programed for racing the shifts will rattle your fillings, smell the fluid, burnt is bad.
