What did the cleansing of the sanctuary mean to the Jews?

Dan 8:14 is an aswered question in Dan 9:24-27. Dan 9:25 finds it's answer in Ezra 7:7-8,24-26 (457BC).when did this end? and what is now going on in the Heavenly sactuary according to the OT types. (remember, if there was an OT type there has to be a NT fullfillment of the same type of service).

Update:

just because the Jews dont follow the NT that doesn't mean the work isn't going on.

Once a year the priest would call a solemn assembly. Every one had to be sanctified, that is, confess and put all sin away. The sacrifices had been going on all year to cleans the people of their sins, and now the priest would enter into the Most Holy Place. With the blood he would cleans the sanctuary of all the confessed sins from throughout the year. Each case would be examined to be sure the individuals were sanctified.

This was a type of what has been happening since 1844 which marked the end of the 2300 days, (years..Ezekiel 4:6b I have appointed thee each day for a year.)

So in effect, the judgment of the dead and now the living is going on at this point.
