Dip them in glue and sprinkle them with silver/white/clear glitter mix to give them a frosted and sparkled look.
If you want a more time consuming craft idea, hand paint each prong of the cone a different color to create holiday patterns using red, green, and white.
-OR- if you really want to be cute, make a mouse.
paint the cone grey
cut out some ears from felt (grey with pink inside)
use grey or pink yarn for the tail
use a black bead for the nose
use the thread/string that is used for necklaces and friendship bracelets to make the whiskers
googley eyes
and if you're really ambitious make him a felt little holiday hat!

Oh! I just got a Christmas ornaments book this week! It had some ornaments made out of pine cones that were really pretty. They got a double boiler and melted some white wax and dipped the pine cones in the wax about five times or until the wax got very thick on it. Then they sprinkled iridescent glitter on them. They looked so wintery. I thought they were nice. If you are interested, I can scan the page in the book if you would like. Just let me know your email address.

the wax idea is nice and if you add candle scent to the wax, it's better. also, i spray some with glue, add the flake snow you get in a bag and use them for trees in my snow village. i have some with glitter on one tree and i leave some plain in set them on the branches of the other tree.
also, for a gift for kids, smear peanut butter on them, sprinkle with bird seeds, tie a string on top, and it's a bird feeder. kids like to make these themselves. you might want to tie the string on first.

Well GM ..you can spray paint them all different colorrs with cans of spray paint! ..and if this is for Christmas ..use your hot glue gun to attach ornaments etc... to the tips. Go to a craft store or online for other ideas. :-)

get red/white material and put over cotton wool balls to form small balls, place them between the spikes.
