No, it will perish. Species take thousands of years to evolve. If you put the common pig into the wild you have to consider that for it to adapt to the new environment it will take a process where thousands of pigs would have to be involved, most will die, and a few will inbreed traits that will help them survive in their new environment. If you release just one pig, even if it were to survive, it will die in time being the same pig you released.

No, strictly speaking, a pig can't turn into a Wild Boar but YES it will quite possibly survive and turn feral.

This includes growing larger tusks and hair- basically looking very similar to a wild boar. Pretty crazy, but true.

Feral Pigs can also inter-breed with boars. A boar is the wild ancestor of the domestic pig.

This is absolutely true. All wild boars in the United States are descendants of domestic pigs, some generations leading back to when the Spaniards brought pigs over. Although the changes will not be very pronounced, the hair will grow longer/coarser and tusks will emerge. Anyone ever hear of Hogzilla in the south a few years ago? These changes become more pronounced with every new generation of offspring. And yes, eventually, you get pirates.

Technically... if it's in the wild then it is a wild boar but because of it's breeding and domestication it may not be able to survive. The pigs used for dinner plates do not grow the long tusk or the long hairs such as most wild boars.

Hello yuanyuan, lol! You can just breed the wild boar to the domestic pig and get the desired characteristic of the former which is the strong immune system. That way, you can improve the domestic pig and not resort to marketing the wild boar. Just keep them where they belong, in the wild. otherwise, it might even lead to their becoming endangered if they get to be hunted too much.
