From what I have experienced and see alot, That has changed alot, They still place their hand on the Bible but do not swear to tell the truth....I imagine they think if you put your hand on the Bible you Will be truthful......By the way>>>Our money says..IN GOD WE TRUST!!

it is not the court that wants to separate from scripture scince scripture was the first law from which all laws evolved. Recently many have gotten away from using the Bible and gone to using an afermation or promise.

Mad Madeline started pushing to rid the Bible or any semblance of God from all things public. Interesting note on that her son is a preacher now. Scince God is obvious everywhere in His creation (Romans) then those who are rebelling against Him have a hard time not seeing their error. When it is obvious then their rebellious nature gets additional twinges. Everyone worshiping He who they are rebelling against being worshipped or placed in a position of reverance makes them feel so outnumbered and small that they mount efforts not to be reminded. Living in a city of brick, concrete and other less organic materials makes it easier to go a day without God staring them in the face, so then when He once again appears it becomes aggrevating and so the constant struggle to erase Him. Here on this site look at the responces from these who rebell, like children in a school yard at recess trying to protect their turf. I hear them say that they get similar jibing from the faithful but when I answer their questions I read the other answers and while once in a while I see someone saying they are christian being aggressive it is not very often, and from these answers it seems to me these are those who are tares.

Most in the court do not wish referances to scripture removed but those who rebell are being true to their rebellion. Just smile in amusement they will either see their error now or after we move to that excusive neighborhood where we have a mansion waiting.

These responses are generally correct. One is asked to swear to tell the truth, the bible is not a part of it... and hasn't been for a long time. (a long time means 10 years in my state).

It's a longstanding court tradition that we've had since the beginning, that's all. Many people have sworn on the Bible and not really believed it.

the thing your speaking of was something done along time ago, it was when america was more bible based and trusted God more than the people do know, however there has been an influx of young people in the church in the last five years.

This hasn't been used in courts for a very long time.

freedom of religion we don't want the gov getting it to our religion then we really would have problems they assume that the bible keeps all people honest but i have news for usome people have no fear at all

i've wondered that myself, and i don't get why they always made atheists do it too... like they have a problem lying "before god" ... i think it was used to morealess put you under oath, not necessarily before god, but before the law. i haven't seen this done in a long, long time though.

Let's face it America was founded by Christians.... It now has unbelievers leaking in destorying it.

Why did they leave england? Can anyone say The Mayflower Compact ..
