How can I learn about politcs 2 debate over with my husband?

Take a Political Science course at your community college

Read some Howard Zinn and Noam Chompsky if you just want to study at home.

I don't thing there's a fast way. On thing would be to read some good newspapers, op eds and such stuff, consentrate on a few important issues.

But political debate is really all about arguing for some standpoint. So what you should do is to sharpen your ability to critically analyze and evaluate arguments.

A good idea would be to start by reading all about some often used logical fallacies.

Politics is a broad topic - if he talks about world affairs (war in Iraq, etc.) then watch the evening news and read current magazine articles. If he discusses local politics, check out your local newspaper to see what's going on.

Yahoo answers is ok, just don't absorb too much as most of us don't know what the heck we are talking about. Listening to talk radio is a good place to start as well. Taking a class is a bit extreme if you are just looking to carry on a conversation. TV is a decent place to look as well. Like I said, ignore just about everything you hear, read, see. Form your own opinions based on what you learn.

Nina the best way is the internet. Drudgereport.com allpolitics.com, there are a plethora of sites. Get both sides of the story though. Alot of people are very mis-informed because they hear someone from one side or the other make a good argument and buy into it without realizing they're being sold snake oil. Trust your insticts.

I gave my grandson between the Fisher value artwork stations and gadget kits for christmas while he turn into 3 a million/2 and he enjoyed it. It turn into all plastic, super procedures and massive screws. His best excitement turn into whacking partitions with the hammer so of direction his mom wasn't too inspired. the newness wore off with the help of the time he became 5 and now he's into Wii and different video games.

I think gc has the best advuce. This will take some time, but don't just accept hubbies opinion, check things out first.

subscribe to and READ one of the news magazines - TIME- NEWSWEEK- or US NEWS - I have found US News to straddle the fence better and give a more rounded view - All three condense and analyze the previous weeks events - newspapers fill up too much space for me unless mr.smarty rants about local politics, then you'll almost have to read the paper - don't forget the Editorial/letters section - most of all - use all that you are and make up your own mind - you don't have to justify yourself to anybody - VOTE

Instead of debating with him why don't you ask him to discuss politics with to help you have a better understanding of how the government works....or doesn't work.

As Americans, we can all agree that ending women's suffrage is the best idea for any politician. Poor women shouldn't have to suffer through the long days on the first Tues. in November.
