How will you know if informations on a certain Internet website are reliable?

We look for references for informations we need. Every now and then, I encounter some misleading informations. So I just want to know if there is something you can check to verify the reliability of informations found in a certain website.

There's really no way to know for sure.

You can always count on popular news websites (like Fox News, CNN and Yahoo) to be accurate.

These days, anyone can create a website and say whatever they want. My mom always told me not to believe everything on tv. But she always watched her news at 6:00 on tv.

If you trust CNN to deliever your news on tv, you can probably trust CNN to deliever your news on the internet as well.

There are also a few reference sites (that don't have tv stations) that can be trusted. Dictionary.com is one of them.

Sometimes wikipedia is a good site. But you must remember that it is much like yahoo answers. Anybody can say anything on there. Its just a matter of who you trust.

And no, there's nothing to use to verify if something is reliable or not. You just have to use your own head to figure that out.

The best thing to do is to go on a reliable search engine like Lexus-Nexus or any other scholarly engine. The information they will come up with is information that has been researched, proven and published. good luck with you research!!!

You don't know. Best bet is to stick to reliable places, like an encyclopedia or a well known school or company.

You have to trust your own mind. If you feel that something is not right then move on to another site.
