Ted Haggard... Proof that being gay is not a choice?

Does the Ted Haggard scandal offer proof that being gay is not a choice?

It looks to me like he is gay (or bisexual) and he hates himself for it. Yet no matter how much he hated it; no matter how much he prayed; no matter how much he spoke out against homosexuals in the public eye; no matter how much he tried to fool himself and everyone else; he still could not change who and what he is.

If being gay were a choice wouldn't he have chosen differently given his life and situaltion?

The fact is that if being gay were a 'choice', no one would choose it. Who wants to go life as a minority group that's generally hated, reviled, rejected and attacked by the public? No one of course. No one would 'choose' to be homosexual if they actually had a choice. The idea that they have a choice is pathetic and ridiculous.

"Pastor Ted" deserves all the misery he gets out of these revelations: it's the wages of hypocrisy. It's what comes of absolutist moral dogma that teaches people to hate themselves, and to take that hate out on others. Haggard's behavior shows he regarded his desires as dirty and shameful; the methamphetamines probably "heightened the sexual experience" by allowing him to forget he was supposedly "sinning."

If Haggard's ilk hadn't kept gay relationships so stigmatized--and even punishable--Pastor Ted himself might have settled down happily with a man long ago. Instead, he's been forced to pay for his pleasures on the sly, and publicly repress his own feelings to the point of a rabid hatred for others in whom he saw them reflected.

It's not just the Catholics, folks! Not to equate prostitution with pedophilia (I'm inclined to think the former ought to be legalized & regulated), but the more vocal someone is about other people's "sins"...the more likely it is they're doing it themselves.

i think of that's a mistake to apply Haggard and Craig as an arguement for homosexuality as a nature not nurture situation. neither guy had the braveness to be honest with himself because of the fact he had capability. Haggard exceedingly proves that capability corupts - if he had not been so efficient, consistent with hazard he would have been honest with himself. the strikes of the two adult males weren't only approximately homosexuality - the two adult males chosen to be liars and to be fake witnesses against gay adult males and girls folk who stay with integrity and honesty. neither guy is well worth thinking in any arguement. their homosexuality isn't the issue. the undeniable fact that they are the two mendacity, capability pushed, and a pair of-confronted must be evidence adequate that they don't would desire to be seen in any area of this debate.

Yes, he is one of the biggest liars around and mislead it the believers and followers. He was "force" to married by the ideals of society, lie to the poor wife, and now the poor children. My heart goes out to them. Being gays is not a choice. This will be a better world if people would be honest with themselves and the rest of the world. Honesty is always the best policy.

he was in denial. maybe him being gay was a "decision" that he made after the fact of him becoming a Church figure for his congregation. i still believe ones sexuality is a decision that each person makes, you're born a gender, not a sexuality.
