    one molecule of methane plus 2 molecules of oxygen react to yield 2 molecules of carbon dioxide and 2 molecules of water

    except that you want only 1 molecule of carbon dioxide on the products side

    one molecule of methane combines with two molecules of oxygen to form two molecules of carbon dioxide and two molecules of water. (aka, the gas caught fire and burned)
