Java is a programming language created by sun microsystems. Many net based applications including internet games make use of this language and webpages make use of a similar language know as JavaScript.

Java is written in a cross platform language which requires a virtual environment to run. This environment takes the java code and translates it into machine code that your computer can understand. You can download the virutal enviroment you need at http://www.java.com/en/download

Make sure to download the correct version for the machine you are using (so windows version for windows etc). This link should automatically point you to the version you need based on the machine you download it on.

Java is a completely free platform so there is no cost associated with downloading or using it.

    www.java.com

This software is the core of java technologies, it takes scripts and applets from a website and translates it so that your computer knows how to use it
