One of ours did that a few months ago. He had no other symptoms other than he couldn't meow. This went on about a month, and we finally took him to the vet. The vet was puzzled but said it might be a certain type of worm??? We were a little skeptical of that but told her we would try it. She put him on an anti-worm solution. It did seem to help and in about a week he had his voice back. We are still not sure if the meds did it, or if he just came out of it on his own.

My cat loses her meow every once in a while. it usually comes back in a few days. Nothing to worry about, unless he exhibits any other symptoms of being sick. Cats are like people, unless they're really sick, they'll probably get better on their own.

Cats don't meow much in the wild. Could be your cat just doesn't have anything to say. I've got a cat who almost NEVER meows. It's just who he is.

he probably didnt lose it. it could just be that he isnt a vocal cat. my roomies cat didnt meow at all until i moved in with my cat (who is very vocal and loves to talk to me when i talk to her). now her cat talks almost as much as mine....its all in how they feel and how much u talk to them.

Does he eat plants? I've heard of certain plants that can take away the voices of animals. It's not dangerious, health-wise to them, it just takes away their voices.
