Grab the tick at the dog's skin <you wont squash it if it is small.> Be sure to pull it out completely. And re-check the spot to be sure. If you leave any part it can regenerate, i have been told. And, yes, flushing it is the best way to get rid of it.

go to the pet store and get a tool called a "tick remover"

it's like a pair of tweezers but it allows you to grab the tick a little better --this is important because if you don't get it properly it will bury itself deepewr into your dogs ear and then you will probably not have any luck getting it and it could then become infected

Just use your fingers, get a hold of it & pull it off. Might make him yelp a bite but that tick in his ear will be driving him nuts & there is no way he can get rid of it. I know, our old dog acts like you hit him & its all your fault. He spoiled & very opinionated too. Still your dog will feel better after. They are naasty little pesks & if you don't find them quickly they will lay eggs & their will be more in his ears.

all you have to do is get some tweezers and just pull fast and your dog will thank you even if it was painful. After you remove it you should take a lighter to it and wait for it to pop. And there you go it will all be done.
