What is the formula if I want to know... What is 33,000 increased by 1% by x number of times?
what does the ˆ in a math formula mean?
The number starts at 33,000. Increase by 1%, it becomes 33,330. Increase 33,330 by 1%, it becomes 33,663.3 . . . ad infinitum

The symbol "^" means raised to the power of ___ , in other words, it shows what exponent is used.
It doesn't matter what the initial amount is, the increase of 1% will result in the same amount of increase after a certain number of repetitions... which can be multiplied by the initial amount to determine the net amount...and you must add 1 to the rate of increase because you are retaining the initial amount.
so after 1 cycle you will have:
1.01 X 33,000 = 33,330
2 cycles will result in:
1.01 X 1.01 = 1.01^2 = 1.0201 X 33,000 = 33,663.33
3 cycles will result in:
1.01 X 1.01 X 1.01 = 1.01^3 = 1.030301 = 33,999.933
PV = Present Value
FV = Future Value
R = Rate expressed as a decimal, 1% = .01
n = number of cycles
FV = PV (1+R)^n
For values of n greater than four or five, a scientific calculator is a big advantage!

y=33,000(1.01^x)
Formula: y = a (b^[x/t])
Y = total
A = total before anything happens
B = Increase or multilpier (i.e. +1% = 101% = 1.01)
X = the number of times something has happened
T = how often X occurs (i.e. If it increases every 3 months, t=3. For you, I assume t=1)

Take 33,000 x 1.01 (for the 1% increase) x N (for the number of times) to get your answer.
