What is soceity's view on male nurses? I know a lot of people think male nurses are gay? Any websites about ?

I work as a nurse and there are very good few but great male nurses. I dont think any of them are gay! Good luck with your reseach..

I work with several male nurses and none of them are gay. It is a myth. Males are filling the shortages everywhere, and doing it all. Once it was a rare thing to see a male nurse, but now they are everywhere.

I have worked with many other male nurses over a 42 year career in nursing/health care, the number of gays is no higher then the general population

I just spent the night at the hospital with my Dad. His nurse was a man named Bob. I couldn't have made it through the night without him! He was great, and there was nothing gay about him. Go for it. We need more male nurses. Good luck!

About 10% of my nursing class ten years ago was male----and I don't think any were gay. Old (but persistent) stereotype, probably based partially upon "boys become doctors, girls become nurses".

Think there's a couple of new journals out specifically targeting men in the nursing profession---- Springhouse publishers, I think (check your local academic library).

My view is that they are male, and they are nurses. I'm betting some are gay, and some aren't. If 'society' thinks they all are, then it's just another meaningless stereotype. Sorry I can't help with any websites.

This is what happens when we hold to arbitrary gender roles, and arbitrarily assign certain jobs to certain genders. Silly, isn't it? My advice, talk to some male nurses.

It's a myth..... just like when some people believe that all male hairdressers are gay...thats not true either.

naaaaaaaa====there are gay nurses just as there are gay truck drivers--office workers==construction engineers==and every occupation that you can think of--and whats the difference---thank god there are people that can be nurses--i know I couldnt == so gay or straight -- god bless them
