The only domestic use I have heard of for oxalic acid is to remove iron stains. In the laboratory it is used in the preparation of carbon monoxide gas by heating the crystals with concentrated sulphuric acid and in volumetric titrations against alkalis as oxalic acid is a stable solid making it easier to make accurate solutions.
