what to do with the money? that is not mine?

you know how sometimes you get mail for previous resident, you return it to post office. but this one b-day card slipped and up behind the comp table i recently found after two years. My kids opened it up thinking it was our mail. only to find 100 dollars inside, I need to return it, but it was two years ago now should write a letter the confirm that the sender is still there. or just send it anyways or just give the money to charity?

Update:

pay atttention ppl

a give it back after confirming

b give it back without confirming

c give it to charity.

I dont intend to keep it.

If your children found the card, then they know that the money belongs to somebody else. If you keep it you will be telling them its ok to take money that does not belong to you.

Do the right thing, try contacting the sender and if you reach them send it back.

Get your children involved, its a good education on being honest.

Send it back to the sender and explain the situation.
