The system has lots of good games but trust her when she tells you what she wants. Also Nintendo is known to have a long life for its portable system. The Game boy has been around since 1988 and people still play those games.
The only thing I would say is make sure that you are clear which game she wants. There are two games one called 'Dogz' and one called 'NintenDogs'. They are very similar games but 'NintenDogs' is considered to be the superior game. Make sure you know which she wants to prevent disappointment.

There are lots of cool games for the DS. I only have two but I'd like to get the one called "Big Brain Academy" cuz you can even challenge friends who have a DS via the download play option (they don't need to have the same game card). Anyways, the DS has some neat features alone so it's definitely worth it.

it is one of the best gifts you can get for her it is worth the money. get one and you will see why.she wants a dog? ok there is a game where she can pic a pet of her choice and care for it as if it was a real dog. you can play, feed, wash the dog just like you had real one. what im trying to say is you get a dog with all the good stuff and non of the bad stuff. ask the dealer about the game when you buy the system its called "nintendogs". good luck merry x-mas

I am getting a Nintendo DS Lite for Christmas. Nintendogs looks like a great game. The first game I am getting for mine is Animal Crossing Wild World. It can be played on line for free thanks to Nintendo's free Wi-Fi. I can't wait to play it.
