Assuming your phone has internet service log into messenger - yahoo then scroll down to yahoo then you should see your mail and just follow the icons from there.

You either need web service on your cell phone plan, or you can set up alerts from your Yahoo mail by clicking on "Options", then "Filters", register your mobile device (they walk you through it), then "Add", put anything you want in the filter name, tell it which folder to move the messages to, check "Send an alert to my mobile device", and click on "Save". Note that your cell phone service may charge you for each text message alert, so check on that before you sign up. Good luck!
