You can often find Ospreys and Gulls in the same locations. Both like water. Ospreys are a member of the hawk family. The eat fish, diving for them, then flying off with the fish always facing head forward. They were formally called Fish Eagles, even though they are not true Eagles.

Gulls, commonly called Seagulls, are in a different family, the larids. This family consists of Skuas, Gulls, Terns and Skimmers. People think of gulls being only found near oceans, but this is not the case. Ring-billed Gulls are commonly found in the interior of the United States far from any ocean. Franklin's Gulls breed on the prairies of central Canada.

Gulls can be scavengers, as others have said, but they are not nasty or disease ridden. Scavengers do a great service in helping keep things clean. They are fascinating birds who migrate great distances. There are many different species of gulls. There are at

least 27 species of gulls that have been found in the United States alone. If you would like to see some great gull photographs go to http://www.martinreid.com/Gull%20website/gullsind....

An osprey is a large bird, kind of like a hawk. A seagull is a rat with wings.

An Osprey is a raptor (bird of prey) while a gull (there technically is no such thing as a seagull) is a pesky scavenger that is known to spread disease (mainly from frequenting places such as landfills, in very large numbers.)

The Osprey is a raptor, or a bird of prey. The seagull is a garbage bird....it eats what it can find.

And Osprey is a very large bird of prey. They hunt fish and live near riviers and lakes.

Seagulls are waterfowl that normally live by the ocean.
